One of Europe’s largest producers of wheel balance weights for the automotive industry, which was named Powys Business of the Year 2017, continues to build on its success by promoting the county overseas.

Businesses from across Powys gathered in County Hall, Llandrindod Wells today for the launch of the county’s premier business awards. The annual Powys Business Awards, which began in 2009, were launched today (Tuesday, June 5) with sponsors, judges and past finalists attending the event.

One of Europe’s largest producers of wheel balance weights in the automotive industry has been named Powys Business of the Year 2017 following substantial increases in turnover, profit and new business.

Businesses from across the breadth of Powys from Ystradgynlais in the south to Llansantffraid in the north are represented in the county’s premier business awards. 

In a fiercely-contested competition, 30 businesses have been shortlisted for 10 different award categories in the 2017 Powys Business Awards.

A successful Welshpool-based company, which is world leader in the design and manufacture of variable frequency drives to control electric motors, has been named Powys Business of the Year for the second year running.

A successful Welshpool-based company, which is world leader in the design and manufacture of variable frequency drives to control electric motors, has been named Powys Business of the Year for the second year running.

An innovative Newtown-based company that provides a range of cellular pathology services celebrated a notable double at the Powys Business Awards held at Derring Lines in Brecon.

Successful Newtown-based company Quartix Ltd, which specialises in vehicle tracking technology, has been named Powys Business of the Year.

Dynamic agricultural supplies and specialist retail business Wynnstay Group has been named the Powys Business of the Year.

The top accolade went to Makefast Ltd, which impressed judges with its innovative skills, its strategies in a tough market, its new products and its staff development.
